Swiss Education Group and The Mercury Phoenix Trust: Working together to help those in need.

As the former guitarist of the group Queen and one of the trustees of The Mercury Phoenix Trust, Brian May and Mr Rondez announced the partnership between Trust and the Swiss Education Group.

Selected as the official charity partner of the Swiss Education Group, the Mercury Phoenix Trust will benefit from the fundraising efforts of students in each of the group’s four schools.  Each semester students will organise a range of innovative fundraising activities from fun-runs to mufti days, cake stalls, BBQ’s and Banquets where the funds raised will be donated to the Mercury Phoenix Trust. The Mercury Phoenix trust was established in 1992 following the death of Queen lead singer and former Montreux resident, Freddie Mercury, to raise awareness and educate the underprivileged about HIV.

Impressed by the dedication of the schools and students, Brian May commented, “It’s fantastic to join forces with the students of the Swiss Education Group.  Their fundraising efforts will help us to continue in our work to help those who are in need of our assistance around the world.  We can continue to use Freddie’s memory, charisma and drive to offer funding to HIV and AIDS education and support programmes in more than 57 countries.”

Florent Rondez added, “The Swiss Education Group has a long history of charitable donation and has in the past offered support to many projects and groups around the world.  In naming The Mercury Phoenix Trust as the group’s official charity, the Swiss Education Group aims to consolidate its fundraising activities and in term make a real contribution to the lives of those who are less fortunate.”
